Dragonfly Dance and Performing Arts Terms and Conditions

By signing up to classes at Dragonfly you accept the following Terms and Conditions - please ensure you have read them fully

 

Registration and Data Protection

 

The information we require upon registration contains personal data. Dragonfly Dance and Performing Arts will record, process and keep your personal information secure in accordance with General Data Protection. If your child is taking an ISTD or RAD exam these boards will require your child’s name and DOB. Our local council will also require this information if your child takes part in our show and other performances to issue a BOPA.

 

Payment Policy

 

Fees are based on 39 weeks a year split evenly over 11 months (no payment in August).  We close for school holidays and the May bank holiday.  The May bank holiday is factored into the monthly cost for those lessons affected.

Fees are payable in advance at the start of each month. No refunds will be given when students miss a class.  If we must cancel a class, a refund will be given.  If your child has an injury or long-term illness, please contact us and payments will be put on hold until they have recovered and are ready to return to class.

Adult classes are pay as you go via cash or bank transfer.

 

Discontinuing classes

 

Notice of one month must be given in writing if a student wishes to cease attending lessons. Fees will still be due even if the student is unable to attend class until the completion of the notice period. 

 

Dress Code

 

Lessons: Correct uniform must be worn for all lessons – please check with your teacher or on the website for uniform requirements.  Dragonfly apparel may be worn for warm up.

 

Rehearsals: Any dark coloured leotard and black tights. Dragonfly apparel for warm up.

 

Workshops / adult classes: Students / adults must wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the activity that they will engage in during the workshop / class.

 

Appropriate Physical Contact Policy

 

Teaching dance is a physical activity and appropriate physical contact between students and teachers in class is essential to training. Physical contact is a potentially complex area, and we fully recognise our responsibilities for safeguarding students and teachers.

The following principles and procedures are in place to safeguard students and teachers.

a. Contact by the teacher is made with a particular awareness of the needs of each individual to assist the dancer in correcting placement.

b. All teachers will treat any physical contact with due sensitivity and care, and with due regard for the wishes of the student.

c. Contact will not involve force or the use of any instrument.

d. Students and parents are encouraged to discuss any worries with any member of staff or an independent listener.

 

Videos and photographs

 

When signing up you will be / were asked if you give permission for your child’s image to be used on our website, social media pages and promotional materials.  If your preferences change at any point please inform us via email or update on the app.

Students are forbidden to take photos or videos in class without the teacher’s consent. Videos or photos taken by students may not be posted online without the permission of all students in the video / photo.

 

Behaviour Policy

 

During lessons/rehearsals, students are expected to behave in a polite manner and to be respectful to teachers and other students. Any unacceptable behaviour from students and/or parents/carers will not be tolerated.

 

First Aid

 

There will always be a First Aider on site who will provide basic first aid. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you give permission for Dragonfly Dance and Performing Arts to contact medical services should an injury or illness be beyond the capabilities of the onsite staff.  We will always attempt to contact you in the event an emergency involving your child.  Please make sure that phone numbers are up to date and at least 2 numbers are provided.

Please be sure to tell us of any relevant medical conditions and keep these updated should anything change.
